OnStage4Peace project
GRANT PROPOSALS
OnStage4Peace project is an initiative conceived to foster a culture of peace, tolerance and living together between host communities and Internally Displaced Persons of the Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon, as a means to advocating for a return to peace in the English-speaking regions of the country and scaling adaptability solutions for victims of the crisis, internally-displaced. The project focuses on using Theatre for Development (T4D) as an innovative ‘down-top’ approach to tackling conflict resolution, encouraging community narratives and perspectives on resolving the long-standing Anglophone Crisis through the lens of how they deal with community conflict situations, thereby turning private, individual stories into public, collective dramas. Theatre is not just an entertaining but equally educative art form believed to appeal to emotions, passions and prejudices. Considering Theatre for Development as a participative, solution-oriented and educative strategy for effective behaviour change, we believe this project will highly encourage the active participation and contribution of Cameroonians from mixed communities of hosts and IDPs towards conflict resolution. Their voices will be heard and their stories will be told and finally, they too will express their understanding of the conflict situation in Cameroon, how it affects their livelihoods and what they think can be done for peace to return and reign.
